Pool Builders UK

TrustMark registered builders delivering bespoke swimming pool construction — indoor, outdoor, natural, and plunge pools — built by our own tradespeople, not subcontracted out and hoped for the best.

What Pool Construction Actually Involves

A pool isn't a hole filled with water — it's a structural, waterproofing, and mechanical project before it's anything else.

Ground conditions determine the structure. High water tables, made ground, and unstable soils all affect whether a standard concrete shell will hold or whether a more involved structural approach is needed — this has to be assessed before design is finalised, not discovered mid-build.

Waterproofing has to be right first time. A pool shell that leaks doesn't fail gracefully — it fails expensively, often requiring the surrounding structure or hard landscaping to be opened up to fix it.

Filtration and circulation aren't an afterthought. Skimmer, deck level, and infinity systems all work differently, and the right choice depends on how the pool will be used and how it sits in the wider design — not just personal preference.

And increasingly, the technical side matters as much as the finish — energy-efficient pumps, solar-assisted heating, and smart controls are now standard expectations, not luxury extras.

Pool Types We Build

In-ground pools — concrete shell, the most common and most durable construction method, built to your exact size and shape rather than a fixed template.

Indoor pools — enclosed within a new build, extension, or basement conversion, usable year-round regardless of weather.

Natural pools — chemical-free, plant-filtered swimming ponds that work with the landscape rather than against it.

Plunge pools & cold water pools — compact, cold-water installations, increasingly popular for recovery and daily use rather than full-length swimming.

Infinity & deck level pools — water that overflows to a perimeter channel rather than sitting below a raised edge, for a cleaner finish and a better view where the site allows it.

Spa pools & swim spas — smaller installations combining swimming current systems with spa features, suited to gardens that can't accommodate a full-length pool.

Why Warvena

We bring the same pre-construction discipline to a pool that we bring to a bespoke new build — proper ground investigation, resolved structural design, and a build sequence that protects the surrounding property throughout. In-house tradespeople handle the structural, waterproofing, and finishing work as one team, so nothing gets lost between separate contractors. FAQs

  • What's the difference between an in-ground and above-ground pool?

An in-ground pool is built into the ground as a permanent structure — more expensive, more involved to install, and it adds value to a property. An above-ground pool sits on the surface, costs significantly less, and can be removed by a future owner, but it won't add the same value and rarely suits a high-specification property.

  • Do I need planning permission for a swimming pool?

Usually not for an outdoor pool, provided it doesn't cover more than 50% of your garden and your property isn't listed or in a conservation area. Indoor pools, pool houses, and other enclosing structures are more likely to need planning permission and Building Regulations approval — worth checking before design begins.

  • How long does it take to build a swimming pool?

A concrete in-ground pool typically takes eight to twelve weeks or longer once construction starts, depending on complexity, ground conditions, and any additional features. Above-ground and prefabricated options are faster, sometimes a matter of weeks.

  • What's a natural swimming pool, and how is it different?

A natural pool uses plants and biological filtration instead of chlorine to keep the water clean, working more like a managed pond than a conventional pool. It suits clients who want a chemical-free, lower-maintenance, more wildlife-friendly garden feature, though the look and feel is different from a conventional pool.

  • Can a pool be built as part of a new build or extension?

Yes — and it's often more cost-effective to plan for an indoor pool as part of a new build or basement conversion than to add one separately later, since the structural and waterproofing work can be integrated into the main build from the outset.
